Old Falcons run together

Want to make those old running legs feel a little younger? Then turn out for the annual Falcon Alumni Fun Run.

“Want to make those old running legs feel a little younger? Then turn out for the annual Falcon Alumni Fun Run.At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, former Falcons and any community members who enjoy running can take on South Whidbey’s fastest boys and girls on a 2.3-mile course that roughly approximates the terrain the cross country runners will cover in the coming season.The course will take participants around the athletic fields behind South Whidbey High School and at the South Whidbey Community Park. Runners start the race on the infield at Waterman Field. There will be several featured races at the event. At 10 a.m., alumni women will take on the Falcon girls cross country team on a 1.5-mile course. Following that race, it will be the men’s turn to race against the varsity boys. They will run 2.3 miles.Children of alumni and team coaches will get their moment in the sun, too, in a 1-mile race. Children ages 6-17 are encouraged to run the race. All participants will recieve ribbons.A potluck and awards program will follow the race in the South Whidbey Community Park.The run is free of charge. “
