A pedestrian was injured Friday evening after being struck by a car at the intersection of Oak Harbor Street and Whidbey Avenue.

Oak Harbor police responded to the incident at 7:21 p.m. According to Capt. Mike Bailey, a driver attempting to turn right onto Whidbey Avenue hit the pedestrian, whom the driver did not notice because the pedestrian was wearing dark clothes.

The pedestrian suffered a head laceration and complained of leg pain and was subsequently transported to WhidbeyHealth Medical Center for treatment. Bailey said the driver was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
