POLICE REPORT | A mysterious black helicopter, a ‘ginormous’ section of fallen bluff and a stolen rock

The following are 911 reports to the Island County Sheriff’s Office, South Precinct.

Monday, May 15

3:13 p.m. — A caller said a marijuana business sign next to a truck rental business in Freeland complained that it advertises driving under the influence, which is not OK.

Tuesday, May 16

12:11 p.m. — A caller on Frostad Road in Oak Harbor asked how he can file complaint about a helicopter that just flew over his house. It was not an Navy aircraft.

6:35 p.m. — A caller on Lancaster Road in Freeland reported a helicopter that buzzed their house. It circled the bay and returned. It had no visible markings, was black or gray, “rugged looking” and very loud.

9:31 p.m. — A caller on Hastings Road in Clinton said a “ginormous” section of the bluff just came down in front of a neighbor’s house. Trees are in the powers lines, and one tree is on fire.

Wednesday, May 17

5:23 p.m. — A caller at a Freeland shipyard advised that his supervisor swung at him in an aggressive manor; there was no physical contact and no one was injured.

Thursday, May 18

1:40 p.m. A caller on Loganberry Way in Freeland reported a large quartzite stone was taken from their home. It occurred after a remodel.

10:57 p.m. — A caller on Scriven Lane in Langley said her husband has been drinking and just fired a gun on the property. She’s unsure what he’s shooting at.

Friday, May 19

1:52 p.m. — A caller on Ewing Road and Longwood Lane in Clinton reported a herd of sheep in the road.

11:54 p.m. — A Cultus Bay Road caller advised hearing machine gun noises in the areas; a neighbor took an ATV into the area of Cultus Bay and Katrin Road.

11:52 a.m. — A caller on Scriven Lane in Langley wants to know what happens to the guns that were removed from his residence earlier in the week.

Tuesday, May 23

10:52 a.m. — A caller on Highway 525 and Admirals Drive found a dead bald eagle on the side of the road.

4:31 p.m. — A caller said four peacocks are on Fox Spit Road near Saratoga Road. They’re tame so the caller thinks they’ve wandered away from someone’s home.

5:33 p.m. — A caller on from a Freeland thrift store reported the theft of a donation jar.
