The Port of South Whidbey is looking to the early spring of 2011 to begin construction of its marina renovation project at the Langley Marina.

“We plan to submit formal permit documentation by the end of this month,” said port manager Ed Field. “The permitting can take anywhere from eight to 12 months, but realistically we should start construction by early spring of 2011.”

Port officials had planned to make its verbal permitting presentation to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Tulalip Tribes and various state and federal agencies last week.

Only the Corps showed up at the meeting in Seattle on July 8, however, but at least the required process has begun, Field noted.
