The Port of South Whidbey wants the public’s two cents about its proposal take ownership of the fairgrounds.
The district will hold an open house at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, in the Coffman Building at the fairgrounds. The idea is to present the port’s plan and gather feedback and answer questions from the public, according to Executive Director Angi Mozer.
The port is asking for the public’s OK to take ownership of the 13-acre property from Island County, and to approve a levy hike that would bring in an additional $200,000 per year for facility maintenance. The measure will be decided on the August primary ballot.
Those who miss Wednesday’s meeting will have another chance at 7 p.m. Monday, July 11, at the same location.
