“After working to increase their scoring ability for the past two weeks, the Falcon girls soccer team put enough balls in the goal Saturday to win a half dozen games.Playing at Granite Falls, the South Whidbey girls won one of the most lopsided games in the team’s history by outpointing the Tigers 7-0. In their previous three games, the Falcon girls scored a total of three goals in two shutout wins and a 2-1 loss.Keasha Campbell got the Tigers’ net loosened up early by nailing a 20-yard shot in the first minute of the game. Minutes later, Jennifer Barrow put up another Falcon point by scoring on a penalty kick. Scoring the third goal of the first half was Natalie Schmidt, who bounced a corner kick off a Granite Falls player into the Tiger goal.Senior Jaci Gutzmer then proved herself to be a longball expert by netting a fourth goal on a 30-yard aerial shot.In the second half, junior varsity recruit Sonya Morphew made her varsity debut with a one-touch shot around the Tiger goalkeeper. Deanne Waterman was next in line to take a potshot at the goal. Her long-distance kick hit low and to the left side of the Tiger goal for the Falcons’ sixth score. Finishing the game was Schmidt with a big kick over the head of the Granite Falls goal keeper.In terms of shot count, the Falcons had the Tigers completely outgunned. They took 43 shots at the Granite Falls goal, while the Tiger strikers could only manage five against defenders Lindsey Binford, Deanne Waterman, Kim Julius and Willa Purser and goal keeper Kellie Horn.Next up for the Falcons is a home game Thursday against Meridian. “
