South End gets Toastmasters club

The Toastmasters club of South Whidbey, known as South Whidbey Sound Off, is officially chartered.

The club was formed about seven months ago with support from the Whidbey Sounders, the Oak Harbor Toastmasters group. The group chartered last month.

Organization bylaws require new clubs to have at least 20 official members, five of them appointed as officers, and the club must choose a name.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization with approximately 292,000 members which operates via clubs in various countries, providing its members with education to improve their leadership, communication and public speaking skills.

The group meets each Monday evening at Trinity Lutheran Chapel in Freeland.
