‘Not Too Old’ is the message at SWCC
Is there an expiration date on our usefulness as well as our life expectancy? Pastor Darrell Wenzek will be speaking tomorrow at South Whidbey Community Church on the topic, “Not Too Old to Impact Your World.”
Pastor Wenzek’s text will be Joshua 14:6-15.
Sunday worship is from 10 to 11 a.m.
The service is preceded by an adult learning forum at 9 with Stan Walker leading a study in the Book of First Corinthians, and Rick Zapata leading a study in the Book of Genesis: the life of the Patriarchs. These are open classes and everyone is invited.

Rev. Gabriel to speak at Unity of Whidbey
Speaker Rev. Joanna Gabriel will give the talk “Little Boxes” at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.
Rev. Gabriel will explore how easy it is to live from a variety of boxes — that is, beliefs that say it has to be this, it cannot be that and how these boxes or beliefs can limit our growth and our access to our authentic selves.
Music will be provided by Heidi Hoelting and Joy Williams will serve as platform assistant. A Course in Miracles group meets from 3:30 to 5 p.m. All are welcome.

Flower Communion is this Sunday at UUCWI
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island will have a Flower Communion at this Sunday’s service.
The Flower Communion or Flower Celebration, initiated by Norbert Capek, founder of the Unitarian Church in Czechoslovakia, is a favorite annual tradition in many Unitarian Universalist congregations. On Sunday, all are welcome to bring a flower and celebrate in the beauty of nature and diversity of the UUCWI.
This is an intergenerational service, so children will remain in the sanctuary. Childcare for the very young will be available.

Looking at Soul as a synonym for God
Are soul and body linked, putting soul into a material, mortal, and limited environment?
On Sunday, May 22, the Christian Science service discusses Soul as a synonym for God, which can’t be trapped in a mortal form. Because Life is also synonymous with the Creator, that, too, can’t be trapped in a mortal form. Consequently, it is possible to claim today your identity as “…the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love,” (“Science and Health”).
This exploration is of the source of one’s identity in God and how recognition of that source can free one from bodily limitations, including those from age or disease of the five physical senses.
Services begin at 10:30 a.m. at 15910 Highway 525, just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road. Everyone is welcome.
‘Faith in Action’ series continues
The second session of the “Faith in Action” series at the next adult forum at Trinity Lutheran Church will feature Ken Halvorson, who is on the synod mission committee reporting on his trip to Ethiopia.
Halvorson will give the highlights of the chicken hatchery project progress and talk about the church’s sister congregation in Dessie.
Rocky and Susan Knickerbocker will also share the dolls that they took to the Philippines to help get their first cottage industry to become self-sufficient. On their trip they also visited India and an orphanage in Ethiopia.
The class will take place at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Fireside Room at Trinity Lutheran.
