South Whidbey School Board approves kitchen upgrade

The South Whidbey School Board approved $75,000 in improvements to kitchen equipment at South Whidbey Elementary School at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday night.

The elementary school’s kitchen is being remodeled and new equipment was necessary. The equipment includes hot and cold serving trays, stainless steel tables and sinks, a dishwasher, convection ovens, a cook range, ice maker, microwave and a walk-in cooler/freeze.

South Whidbey School District Maintenance Director Brian Miller said the equipment will be purchased by the district in order to speed up construction time and “potentially” reduce costs.
