Some very nice things and some very unusual things have been given, said Sara Benum, member of the Friends and one of the organizers of the rummage sale. There are lots of classy items. The Friends have been collecting items for the sale every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Clinton Library. People have really come out to help, Benum said. Clinton is a spread-out community, she added. It’s tough to get a hometown spirit instilled in people whose homes are scattered over such a lot of territory. The library, however, is becoming a focal point and a benefit to many. We’re proud of the hard work that made the library a reality, Benum said. Now we have to keep supporting it, and events like this rummage sale provide a substantial portion of the funds to keep the library operating, maintained, landscaped and well-lighted.This year, there will be a boutique section at the rummage sale for the really nice clothes and other specialty items that have been donated. Then organizers will need to find room for a two-man rubber raft, a dress form, a yogurt maker and bread machines, a hedge trimmer, skateboard, and many more intriguing treasures from attics and garages. There is one more Saturday, June 30, to donate items, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Clinton Library. Donations can also be picked up; call 341-4614 for more information. “
