According to Island County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Todd, the crash put the lives of others in danger, including Kuolt’s 17-year-old passenger Aaron Moffet, and a bicyclist who was riding on Maxwelton Road. Todd said Kuolt lost control of his Eagle Talon shortly after turning onto Maxwelton Road from Langley Road. Traveling southbound, Kuolt drove onto the shoulder on the outside of a curve, overcorrected into the northbound lane, then hit the shoulder again. The car then turned on its side before stopping against an embankment. The car narrowly missed hitting a woman who was riding her bicycle in the southbound lane.A passerby saw the accident, helped both the teens out of the car, then called 911. Fire District 3 EMTs and Whidbey General Hospital paramedics arrived minutes later and treated the boys at the scene. The paramedics then transported the boys to the hospital for more treatment.Todd said Kuolt admitted to driving in excess of the 50 mph speed limit on Maxwelton Road. He was later cited for speeding. “
