Unity church sign stolen again

Someone stole Unity of Whidbey congregation’s church sign from Bayview Community Hall — for the second time.

Gerry Simpson of Greenbank, vice president of the congregation’s board of trustees, said the old white folding sign reading “Unity of Whidbey,” kept outside the hall on Bayview Road and displayed at roadside on Sundays, was taken some time Saturday, Aug. 8.

The sign, used to direct visitors to the hall for the past 20 years, was also snatched about three weeks ago, Simpson said. The sign was given up for lost, then turned up outside the congregation’s new church building off Crawford Road, he said.

“We thought it was a joke,” Simpson said. “Then it disappeared again.”

“Please return it,” he added. “You can just slow down and throw it out of the car. Or we’ll come and get it. However we get it back will be appreciated.”

Anyone with information about the sign can call the church office at 321-5030 and leave a message.
