Audition slots are still available for Whidbey Island Center for the Arts general auditions for the 2008-’09 Theater Series on Wednesday, Aug. 20 and Thursday, Aug. 21.

The coming Theatre Series includes the plays “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler; “Inspector Carol,” by Daniel Sullivan and the Seattle Repertory Theatre; “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead,” by Tom Stoppard; “Rabbit Hole,” by David Lindsay-Abaire; and “Frankline and Figara,” by Kristina Sutherland.

“Sweeney Todd” is scheduled to run in October. It will be directed by Deana Duncan, with musical direction by Chris Harshman, the force behind South Whidbey High School’s award-winning jazz band.

WICA will present “Inspector Carol,” directed by Don Wilkins, in December.

“Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” will be directed by Katherine Woodzick and will take the stage in February.

“Rabbit Hole” hits the stage in April; directed by K. Sandy O’Brien.

“Frankline and Figara” will be directed by playwright Kristina Sutherland, and is scheduled for June 2009.
