A shop on a North Whidbey property was destroyed in a structure fire early Saturday morning, but no one was hurt, according to North Whidbey Fire and Rescue Chief Chris Swiger.

The fire department got the call around 4:40 a.m. Dec. 3 and spent the better part of the morning subduing the blaze on Cerullo Drive. Swiger said firefighters didn’t leave the scene until 10 a.m. North Whidbey Fire was joined by Mt. Erie, Central Whidbey and Navy fire departments.

When North Whidbey Fire arrived on the scene, the 40-by-40-foot shop was fully involved. The structure was too far gone for firefighters to determine what caused the fire and ended up being a total loss, Swiger said.

The nearby house was unharmed. A car and a camp trailer parked nearby suffered some charring from exposure but no significant damage, Swiger reported.
