The double-dual meet yielded the Falcons’ first two NCC wins of the season. On the mat, the Falcons were almost unbeatable. The grapplers scored 12 pins and four decisions in 28 matches to beat both Meridian and Blaine. While the usual suspects — Bruce Hymas, Brandon Hern, Aaron McCabe, Andy Wills and Chris Long — subdued the opponents they were expected to, several other Falcons with few marks in their personal win columns also came through for the team. Freshman Phil Schorr pinned Blaine’s Quitamla in his 103-pound match, while senior Mike Johnson earned a 14-3 major decision against Meridian’s Kaniza. Sophomore Josh Thomas pinned Meridian and Blaine opponents in his 112-pound matches, and freshman Ben Harris won a 12-0 decision against Blaine’s Highley at 152 pounds. On Saturday, the Falcons’ big guns did the job at the Skyline Tournament. Bruce Hymas, Chris martin, Brandon Hern, and Chris Hezel all won their four-man pools to pace the Falcons to their number-three placing behind Woodinville and Sunnyside. The Falcons wrestle next in Pasco on Friday and Saturday. “
