Anne Sedgewick Hartley, 85, passed away Jan. 16, 2019, in Des Moines, Wash. in the presence of her family.

She was born Jan. 10, 1934 in Evanston, Ill.

She played flute since the age of 7 and continued almost all her life. She graduated with honors from Clover Park High School in 1951. She received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Washington and became an elementary school teacher and librarian. Anne was always interested in new ideas and took part in many traditions. She was a confirmed health nut!

A memorial will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 9, 2019 at Des Moines United Methodist Church.

Anne is survived by her three sons, Dennis Barnes (Sandy), Bryan Kneip and David Kneip (Loreen); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Allen Hartley, Jenny Hartley, Emily Hartley, Dorothy Hartley and Eliza Rickards. She was predeceased by her father Herbert Hartley, mother Sue Baker and her brother Dean Hartley.
