These are the words used by friends and family of Anne Weaver to describe her upon hearing of her passing. Her effect on those around her is her shining legacy.
Elizabeth Anne was born to Richard and Nola Norris of Everett, WA on January 2, 1945. She grew up in the Everett and Lake Stevens area, and graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1963, followed by Business College in Everett. She married Earl (Bucky) Weaver in 1966 and welcomed a daughter, Kelly Anne, in 1967.
Anne’s family had connections to Whidbey Island for multiple generations, and she later came to call it her home. She began her local work history with jobs at the Greenbank General Store and the Nickel Want Ads before accepting a position, her “dream job”, with the Coupeville School District, filling a number of administrative support positions in both the Secondary and Elementary school offices. She served in those positions for 38 years, the longest of any Coupeville School employee to date, retiring in 2017. She touched many young lives during that time and established many lifelong friendships, including with the love of her life, Wilburn (Bill) Young, with whom she spent nearly 30 years in their Coupeville home, nurturing a much loved dog and a series of cats, and enjoying the abundant wildlife and beauty around them.
Sadly, her health began to fail during this past year of the pandemic, when enjoying the company of friends was curtailed greatly, leaving many to grieve the loss of that time with her. She passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, with Bill and Kelly at her side, just a few days after being admitted to Providence Hospital Everett.
Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Ruth Weyhing, a Providence Registered Nurse, in 1973. She is survived by her life partner, Bill Young; daughter, Kelly Anne Weaver-Mitchell; her son-in-law, Eric Mitchell; and her granddaughters, Sydney Anne and Tyler Alise (“The Reds”). Cats, Zelda and Henry, too.
Anne served as Secretary for the Sunnyside Cemetery, Island Cemetery District #2, for many years. As a founding member of “The Sunnyside Underground”, she will join friends and family on that hillside later this summer at their annual celebration of those both Above and Below Ground. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date as well.
