Dale Aro Lyski: Sept. 5, 1937 – Sept. 25, 2018

Dale Aro Lyski, passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2018 at Providence Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He had courageously battled cancer with the tenacity, bravery and quiet faith with which he approached everything in his life.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1937 in Great Falls, Mont., to Aro and June Lyski. He graduated from Foster High School in Tukwila, Wash., where he excelled in basketball. He went on to college at the University of Washington before being drafted into the U.S. Army.

Following his military service, he began a career in banking that spanned 40 years. He was a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School and served in a profession that he loved, leading banks in wonderful communities including Seattle, Everett, Langley and Hoquiam.

He was dedicated to serving the community and was involved in many organizations including being a charter member of Everett Port Gardner Rotary, a member of the Langley Kiwanis Club and a trustee of Langley United Methodist Church.

Dale dearly loved his children and grandchildren and delighted in taking them camping and on adventures in Europe, Yellowstone and places across the United States. He believed the best education was learning about other people and cultures.

He married his high school sweetheart Joyce Clark, and they were happily married for 57 years before her passing in 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents Aro and June. He is survived by his children Dale Lyski Jr. (Marsha); Lori Kloes (Daren); grandchildren Ashley Lyski, Ryan Lyski, Katie Kloes Greeny (Erik), McKenna Kloes and Cami Kloes; great grandchild Adaline Punzalan; brother Wayne Lyski (Barbara); sister Karen Fleming (Dick); special friend Sandy Loveland; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family extends their special thanks to the staff and physicians in the Surgical ICU at Providence Regional Medical Center for their extraordinary care and compassion.
