Helen Charlotte Sylvester, a long-time resident of South Whidbey Island, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, April 13.

Born in 1922 in San Jose, Calif. and raised by Sophie and Ernest Hackman, Helen was the youngest of three daughters: Olga, Anne and Helen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Sievers Sylvester.

Helen and Bill retired to Freeland, Wash., in 1980. It was here that they built the home of their dreams in Holmes Harbor.

Helen was an active supporter of the South Whidbey community and a member of the Eastern Star.

She loved socializing, spending time with her family and had the most beautiful smile that could light any room.

She is survived by her two sons, William Jr. and Scott Sr.; four grandchildren: Kristin, Kandace, Scott Jr., and Jessica; and four great grandchildren: John Jr., Emma, Reid and Allison.

Helen will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and loved her. There will be no funeral services at her request.
