Henry C., II Smith

Henry, a 10-year resident of Whidbey Island, died at home March 2, 2006 with his wife and daughter at his side.

He was born May 7, 1951 in Nashville, Tenn. to Henry and Anita Smith.

Henry was the son of an airman and grew up in various places in the United States and around the world. After attending Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Henry joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1973.

He was a self-taught technical writer and computer programmer and worked for Microsoft for the last 16 years. Henry loved building computers and loved getting others involved with computers. His other interests included reading, photography, Sci-fi and spending time with his family and friends.

Henry was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, uncle and friend. He was a passionate man who lived life fully and loved with all his heart. Anyone who knew him said that he was a good man. He will be deeply missed by all.

Henry is survived by his wife, Sara; his mother, Anita Smith of Nashville; his sister, Nancy Gann (Ronnie) of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; two sons, Jonathan Smith of Kirkland, and Peter Smith of USMC; two step-daughters, Meghann of Whidbey Island, and Kelsey Unrue (Paul) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his step-son Kiersten Fischer (Theresa) of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, and a nephew, a great-nephew and great niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry C. Smith and his infant son, Joshua.

A memorial was held on March 6, 2006 at Visser Funeral Home, Langley.
