Joseph D. Williamson: March 13, 1941 – Oct. 9, 2018

Joseph D. Williamson passed away on Oct. 9, 2018.

He was born on March 13, 1941 to David O. Williamson and Edith Mary Nielsen in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Logan, Utah when Joe was 6 years old. That’s where he grew up.

Joe joined the Navy right out of high school and served four years on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. Joe was honorably discharged from the military in July 1963.

While in the Navy, Joe was stationed in Bremerton. It is there he met Bonnie Torsak, and they fell in love and married Aug 3, 1960. They lived in Alameda, Calif. In 1963, Joe and Bonnie moved to Shelton, Wash., where they lived for 10 years. Then, they moved to South Whidbey for a job as a superintendent of Holmes Harbor Golf Course. Joe then was hired on with the Washington State Ferries, from which he retired.

Joe and Bonnie have lived on Whidbey Island for 45 years.

Joe and Bonnie were married 57 years. Together they have five children: daughters Debbie, married to Glenn Hoch, and Sandra, married to Chuck Bush; Sons Derrick, David and Stan, married to Kathy Williamson; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Joe is survived by three brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews.

Joe is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Maxwelton Road.

A viewing session will be held just before the funeral, starting at 10 a.m. All are welcome.
