Karen Mae Gray, 76, a resident of Freeland, Wash. and Rancho Mirage, Calif., passed away on March 5, 2020 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage.
Karen was born in Seattle, Wash. on Oct. 23, 1943, the only daughter of Edna Alice Hanson and Willard Koppen. She grew up in Ballard, Wash., where she attended and graduated from Ballard High School in 1961. She later attended Central Washington University and graduated in 1965 with her bachelor of arts degree in education. She taught elementary school in Chicago, Ill., and in Lake Stevens Wash., where she retired after 30 years as a kindergarten teacher.
She is survived by her two children and their families, Christopher Gray and his wife, Katie, of Chelan, Wash., and his children Jesse and Bryce Gray, and Carrie Gray and her partner, John, of Freeland, and her children, Keane, MacAy, and Caelan Braniff; and her life partner, James Maner, of Langley, Wash.
Kari was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
