Larry Joe Wicox: July 25,1945 – Jan. 24, 2018

Larry, a resident of Freeland, lost his more than two-year battle with cancer at his Arizona home. He was born to Abigail and Howard Wilcox in Seattle and grew up in the Sea-Tac area. After graduating from Mount Rainier High School, he attended Columbia Basin Junior College and Western Washington University. His college education was interrupted when he served his country in the Naval Air on the U.S.S. Bennington Air Craft Carrier. After his military service he returned to college and graduated in 1971.

His 32-year working career was in the electronics business where he worked in Seattle and Bellevue at Almac, Motorola and Delta Electronics.

Larry married Sara Angstrom on March 26, 1982. While living in West Seattle, they took the ferry to Whidbey in 1990, found a lot and built a second home at Bush Point. After retirement in 2003, Sara and Larry moved fulltime to their Bush Point home.

Larry was an avid shooter and fisherman. He spent many hours at the Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club perfecting his shooting skills. During the summers he fished in Tofino, B.C. with Sara and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sara; his brother John; his niece Melissa; his step dad Harvey Burnett and many good friends. He also leaves his trusty dog and cat companions Jose and Wilson.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Howard and mother Abbie.

Larry’s celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club.
