Mary Barr: Nov. 28, 1926-Sept. 3, 2017

Mary Barr, 90 years old, of Anthem, Ariz. was called home to Heaven Sunday Sept. 3, 2017.

Mary was born Nov. 28, 1926 to Frank and Martha Karolevitz in Yankton, S.D.

Upon graduating from Bremerton High School, Mary attended South Dakota State University on a Majorette Scholarship, earning her degree in home economics.

While in college, she met and married Robert D. (Bob) Barr. Bob’s career as a pharmaceutical sales district manager brought them to Washington state, first to Edmonds, then on to Whidbey Island for the next 47 years. Mary enjoyed her life in Langley… raising four children, playing golf at Useless Bay Country Club, fellowship with her faith community at St. Huberts Catholic Parish and the many friends she and Bob made there. Mary’s canine companions over the years brought her much joy. Lola will miss her dearly.

Retirement was spent “snowbirding” to Palm Desert, Calif. at Silver Sands Racquet Club, where happy times were spent and great memories made.

Mary and Bob recently moved to Merrill Gardens in Anthem to be near family.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bob of 66 years; Daughters DruAnne (Jim) Chapados, Susan Drnec and Connie (Gary) Reimann, along with son Tom; nine grandchildren: Rob (Marcella), Mike (Kelsey), Jayme, Max (Alexis), Abby, Charley, Joe, JT and Mikel (Madison); six great-grandchildren: Dominic, Maia,Jonah, Emi, Gemma and Olivia; three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Karolevitz, Marge Barr and Et (Tom) Allegretti, along with several loved nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her brother Robert Karolevitz and sister Ruth Hagen.
