Pete Lopez: September 28, 1943 – January 19, 2023

It was my saddest day ever when we lost our Angel, my Husband, Father, and Grandfather., Gonzalo Pete Lopez on January 19, 2023, (aka, Peter or Butch). Pete owned one of the most respectable family billiards in Monterey Park, CA. Pete also had a cosmetology license, and opened his own salon shop in Alhambra, CA.

About 30 years ago Pete and his wife, Virginia Lopez, decided to move our family to paradise, Whidbey Island, to raise our daughter, Ashley Lopez Regalado. He realized that he was too young for retirement, therefore, decided to take a position as a bus driver for 19 years, transporting his very special children. He always came home with very wonderful stories about his kids. This really made his day.

For thirty plus years, Pete loved his family, friends, home, community, and all the beauty that this Island brings each and every day. Pete made beautiful memories raising our daughter, and also precious moments with his only grandson, Elias Charles Regalado.

We lost this wonderful man battling cancer and other multiple illnesses. After being my soulmate for over 42 years, our family and friends will always mourn a loyal beautiful soul. Somewhere I read, “A hard run makes for an easy walk.”

Pete’s last words to me and Ashley, “Let’s Rock & Roll.” Although he is gone, I feel I am not alone cause I will carry him in my heart forever.
