Shirley Ohnsager South passed away on April 4, 2009 at Monroe Adult Family Home, where she received tender loving care for the past two years.

Both of Shirley’s parents came from Norwegian immigrants. Born in Sharon, N.D. on Jan. 31, 1924, she grew up in North Dakota, moving to Seattle with her family after high school.

There she met her husband, marrying in 1946. Following their 62nd anniversary, he preceded her in death last year.

She enjoyed gardening and crafts, as well as cooking and entertaining. Their home at Bush Point on Whidbey Island was always a delight to her.

Shirley is survived by her only child, Gerald K. South, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Providence Hospice of Snohomish County.
