Tracy Christine Zimmerman: June 28, 1951 – Feb. 3, 2021

Tracy Zimmerman, of Coupeville, Wash., peacefully passed away at home from breast cancer on Feb. 3, 2021. When first diagnosed in 2015, she was told she was terminal and had only a few months to live. She refused to accept that and, with the help of Dr. Inoue and his fine staff at the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership, she lived another five-plus years.

Tracy was born in Everett, Wash., the only child of Davis (Ed) Edward and Ruby Ann Bradshaw.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jack Zimmerman, of Coupeville; daughter Michelle, of Kelso, Wash,; daughter Beth, of Bellingham, Wash.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son James Fraser and both parents.

After residing in Everett in her early years, Tracy and her parents moved to Marysville, Wash where Tracy graduated from Marysville High School in 1969.

In 1981, Tracy and Jack moved to Whidbey Island and, shortly thereafter, Tracy began employment with the transportation department of the Coupeville School District as a bus driver. For a number of years she drove regular routes, athletic trips and other miscellaneous type trips. The last years were her favorite as she transported children with special needs. She developed close relationships with the children and their families. She retired after 25 years,

Although health issues restricted participation, Tracy was a charter member of the Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge. A special thanks goes to the personnel at the Cancer Center in Everett and to Hospice of the Northwest for their comforting assistance. Per Tracy’s wishes and because of the pandemic situation there will be no visitation or public services.
