Waldo G. Jacobson

Waldo “Wally” G. Jacobson, crossed over to be with our Lord on Dec. 21, 2005 at the Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, Nev.

Wally was born July 23, 1928 in Rose, N.D., the third of five children born to Martin I. and Gladys E. Jacobson. The family moved to Snohomish in 1930.

Wally served our country in the Army-Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1949.

He worked and traveled with the Boeing Bomark and Minuteman Programs for many years before working at the Everett Boeing Plant, and was part of the first groups called “The Incredibles” and then settled on Whidbey Island in 1967.

He was a member of American Legion Post 141 and South Whidbey Kiwanis until relocating to Fernley, Nev. in 1999 with his wife of 39 years, Wilberta Lee Jacobson.

Wally and Lee both were members of the Sparks Kiwanis Club, and Wally was a member of the Gerald C. Daniel American Legion Post 37 in Fernley. Wally’s 24 years of perfect attendance in Kiwanis exemplifies the importance this civic organization held for him.

Wally very much loved a good round of golf and was an avid miniature craftsman. He also enjoyed visits with family and friends, traveling, exploring, sight seeing, gardening and his loyal dog, Scamp.

Wally is survived by his wife, Lee, of Fernley, Nevada; sons Neal Jacobson of Lake Stevens, Craig LeRoy (Tracy) of Camano, Curt LeRoy (Lisa) of Clinton, and daughter Debbie Grimm of Langley. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Lon and Eric Jacobson; Wendy (Doug) Roullier, Alison LeRoy; Jason Grimm, Sam (Amber) Grimm, Alisha (Evan) Ackley, Krista Grimm, Harley (Brandy) Grimm, Rianna Grimm; Sean (Vanessa) Janssen, Jennifer and Blaine LeRoy, and six great-grandchildren, Alabama, A.J., Tate, Nathan, Nicole and Jeffrey, and also a sister and brother-in-law, Ilene and Gordy Freeman of Kennewick.

He is loved by all; his smile and presence will be missed.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Orlin and Don, sister Ardys, son Mark and daughter Rosalie.

At Wally’s request, there was no funeral service.

The family requests that remembrances be made to: Kiwanis Family House, PO Box 189091, Sacramento, CA 95818
