Falcon boys among leaders at massive meet / Cross country

One hundred and three high schools, South Whidbey among them, met at Lakewood High School Saturday, Oct. 6, for the 35th annual Hole in the Wall Invitational cross country meet.

Nearly 3,000 runners took part in one of the largest cross country meets in the United States.

The Falcons boys finished eighth — first among 1A schools — out of 53 schools who earned team points in the varsity boys division (team average over 18 minutes). The South Whidbey girls finished 32nd, fifth among 1A teams (team average over 22:30).

South Whidbey returns to league action when it travels to King’s for a North Sound Conference meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.
