South Whidbey’s boys tennis team made a quick turnaround against Coupeville for a 4-1 victory. Only two days after losing to the Wolves 3-2, the Falcons reshuffled their lineup for a near sweep against their Whidbey Island rivals.

“I’m happy that lots of our players are getting varsity experience,” said Falcon head coach Karyle Kramer. “JV teams are mostly playing doubles, learning and improving and winning quite a bit as well.”

Falcon senior Guy Sparkman returned to first singles and defeated Nathan Lamb, 6-4, 6-3.

Moving down from first singles, sophomore Charley Stelling lost a third set tiebreaker to Aaron Curtin. Coupeville’s No. 2 singles player won the first set 6-3. Stelling rebounded in the second set and forced the tiebreaker, which Curtin won 10-8.

In doubles, South End cousins Taylor Simmons and Jonathon Peterson beat Coupeville tandem of Ben Wehrman and Jason Knoll, 6-4, 6-1.

At second doubles, Falcon seniors Cameron Baldwin and Mitchell Hughes defeated Wolves Brian Norris and Brandon Kelley, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 tiebreaker.

Falcons Jack Hood and Nathan Riley dropped Wolves Ben Etzel and Sebastian Davis, 6-3, 6-4.
