Falcons fall to Mount Baker / Softball

Mount Baker blanked the host South Whidbey High School softball team 11-0 Monday, March 25.

Although the Falcons lost, coach Brad Jaeger said his club “did some good things.” Among them was the play of his three outfielders.

Jaeger started an outfield that included two who had never played high school softball and another who never played the sport.

“With all the chances they had in the outfield yesterday, there was only one error out there,” Jaeger said.

On offense, the Falcons loaded the bases twice but couldn’t punch in a run.

“At the beginning of the year, I said that we just want to get better every day, and so far that is what the girls have done,” Jaeger said. “They play together, cheer for each other and at the end of the day they enjoy being on this team. As a coach, I’m proud of them.”

South Whidbey (0-1, 2-3) goes to Sultan (0-0, 0-2) for a 4 p.m. game Wednesday, March 27.
