Falcons fall to Wolves / Softball

Coupeville scored multiple runs in all but one inning to beat the visiting South Whidbey High School softball team 13-3 in five innings Tuesday, April 23.

The Falcons scored first when Kayla Knauer and Melody Wilkie singled in the opening inning, then Knauer raced home on a wild pitch.

The lead didn’t last long as Coupeville’s Veronica Crownover launched a grand slam in the bottom of the first.

South Whidbey responded by scoring two runs in the second to make it a 4-3 game.

Arianna Briggs singled, then Myah Majestic walked with two outs. Base hits by Knauer and Ari Marshall plated the two runs.

The Falcons’ offense stalled after that, failing to get a hit over the final three innings.

South Whidbey (1-6, 4-9) hosts Cedar Park Christian (4-3, 9-4) at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25.
