Falcons finish among top 10 / Swimming

South Whidbey High School swimmers earned 12 top-10 times in Kamiak’s meet with Glacier Peak Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Mukilteo.

Kamiak won the meet 113-73.

Ashley Lynch’s time of 2:15.3 in the 200-yard freestyle was the third best in the competition. She also had the fourth-best time in the 100 backstroke (1:08.93).

Parker Forsyth was fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:36.82) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:15.38).

Sarah Zundel picked up a pair of fifths (100 butterfly, 1:26.54; 100 breaststroke, 1:30.54), and Abigail Ireland was seventh in the 100 free (1:07.27).

Katie Zundel took ninth in the 100 free (1:08.86), and Devin King was 10th in the 200 free (2:54) and 17th in the 100 free (1:18).

The Zundels, Forsyth and Ireland were fourth in the 200 medley relay (2:18.43); and the Zundels, Ireland and King were fifth in the 200 free relay (2:11.08).

The Falcons train and compete with Kamiak High School but do not score team points in the Knights’ meets. South Whidbey, however, will get the opportunity to be part of the team standings when the Falcons participate in the Mukilteo Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
