Receiving a boost from five extra-base hits, the South Whidbey High School softball flew by host La Conner 17-4 in five innings Tuesday, March 19.
Melody Wilkie was at the center of the action, picking up the pitching victory and slashing two doubles and a triple.
Channel Sterba chipped in with four hits, including a pair of doubles; Myah Majestic went 3-for-4; and Ari Marshall reached base five times.
The defensive highlight, according to coach Brad Jaeger, was registered by second baseman Megan Mange, who snared a blistering ground ball and fired to second for an out.
Granite Falls (3-3) travels to Langley to face South Whidbey (2-1) in the North Sound Conference opener at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 21.
