Falcons knocked out of district / Volleyball

Losing twice in straight sets, the South Whidbey High School volleyball team was eliminated from the district tournament Saturday, Nov. 2, at Lynden Christian.

The Falcons opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to the host Lyncs, the top seed from the Northwest Conference.

South Whidbey, the fourth seed from the North Sound Conference, then lost to the NSC’s No. 2 seed, Coupeville, 3-0.

Lynden Christian went on to defeat Nooksack Valley and will play King’s for the district title at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Coupeville.

Coupeville will play twice Tuesday and can place as high as third. The top five teams advance to the bi-district.

Lynden Christian defeated the Falcons 25-10, 25-13, 25-8.

Kamryn Wilson registered five kills for South Whidbey, and Kayla Knauer had 13 digs.

Coupeville topped South Whidbey 25-13, 25-17, 29-27.

Emma Hodson collected four kills and four blocks, Arianna Briggs had four kills and two blocks and Knauer recorded 16 digs.

South Whidbey finished the season with a 5-11 record.
