Falcons wallop winless Cowboys; 1st-place Red Wolves next / Soccer

Even though it was missing four starters, the South Whidbey High School soccer team had little trouble with host Chimacum, blasting the Cowboys 13-0.

“Not much of a contest,” South Whidbey coach Emerson Robbins said. “We definitely did not play our best game. I moved players around and actually tried to keep the score down.”

The Falcons raised their record to 7-4-2 with the non-league win. Chimacum remained winless is 10 matches.

South Whidbey, 6-4-1 in league play, closes out the regular season at 6 p.m. Friday, April 27, when it hosts Cascade Conference leader Cedarcrest (8-1-2, 9-3-3).

The two teams tied 0-0 April 4 in Duvall.

The Falcons, the No. 2 1A school in the league behind King’s, will host the Northwest League’s No. 3 team, Mount Baker, Monday, April 30, in the first round of the district tournament. The starting time has not been determined.
