South Whidbey competes with big schools in big meet / Swimming

South Whidbey High School was among the more than 30 teams that competed at the Mukilteo Swimming Invitational Saturday, Sept. 28, at Kamiak High School.

Only one school small, Cle Elum, scored points in the meet.

Ashley Lynch earned the best finishes by an individual Falcon, taking 38th out of 71 in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.57) and 38th out of 89 in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.06).

Katie Zundel was 51st in the backstroke (1:12.76) and 63rd out of 83 in the 100 butterfly (1:15.76).

Parker Forsyth was 51st in the fly (1:12.94) and 51st out of 91 in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.73).

Abigail Ireland took 87th (29.48) and Sarah Zundel 190th (34.37) out of 216 in the 50 freestyle.

Lynch, Ireland, Forsyth and Katie Zundel placed 31st out of 50 in the 400 freestyle relay (4:27.71); and Lynch, Sarah Zundel, Katie Zundel and Ireland were 62nd out of 119 in the 200 medley relay.

The Falcons will swim with Kamiak when it hosts Shorecrest at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.
