Pioneers take two from Falcon baseball team

“South Whidbey lost a pair of baseball games to the Nooksack Valley Pioneers this week.On Wednesday at Nooksack the Falcons played well early. The teams were tied at 4-4 in the fifth before the Falcons surrendered 4 unearned runs in the last two innings to lose 8-4. Offensively, the Falcons were led by Brady Switzer who went 2 for-4 with a double, and Jim Davis who was 1 for 3 and scored 2 runs.On Monday the Falcons hosted Nooksack and lost 10-6 after staking themselves to a 3-0 lead in the first. Nooksack came back to take a 6-3 lead, but the Falcons evened the score with a 3-run fourth thanks to a couple of walks followed by an RBI single from Caden Russell and a sacrifice fly by Peter Sankey.The Pioneers finally broke it open with a grand slam homer in the fifth.For the Falcons, Jimmy Davis went 2 for 4 for the day while Brady Switzer was 2 for 3.Wednesday’s loss dropped the Falcons to 4 wins and 8 losses in North Cascades League play. They finish off the season next week with home games Monday against Meridian and Thursday against Lynden Christian. Both games start at 4:30 p.m. “
