Falcons seniors play last home game

“South Whidbey’s final home baseball game of the season will be Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Falcon field against Lynden Christian. The Falcons will be hoping their bats come to life after a couple of low-run outings against Meridian, one of the top teams in the league.Monday the Trojans visited South Whidbey and went home with a 7-1 win. Tristan Johnson provided the Falcons’ main offensive highlights with a double and a home run, while teammate Jim Davis stroked a double.Meridian scored its seven runs on only five hits, but they were helped by five Falcon errors.At Meridian last Friday, the Falcons lost 11-1. They enjoyed a short-lived lead when Brady Switzer hit his third home run of the season in the top of the first inning. But the Falcons managed only two other hits, by Tristen Johnson and Tim Gabelein, the rest of the game. Meridian broke it open with a five-run fourth inning, and for the game collected two homers, one triple and four doubles.After Monday’s game South Whidbey’s season record stood at 5-13, while its North Cascades Conference mark fell to 4-10. Meridian improved to 12-3 overall and 10-2 in league. “
