Catherine Samantha Lehman, 91, died May 3, 2005, of complications following a stroke.
Miss Lehman lived in Freeland with her niece and nephew, Deloris and Allan Ament. She never married, and leaves no surviving children or siblings.
Miss Lehman was born March 25, 1914, in Paulding, Ohio, to Samuel and Grace (Yeagley) Lehman. She attended Bowling Green State University, and served in the WAVES, the women’s branch of the Navy, during World War II. She worked as an accountant, who managed employee credit unions for the St. Regis Paper Co., and for the government in Pensacola, Fla.
In her spare time, she was an award-winning golfer and tennis player. She moved to Whidbey Island in 2002, after more than 50 years in the Pensacola area.
No memorial service will be held. Memorials may be sent to the WAIF animal shelter.
