John William Caveny-Brown

John William Caveny-Brown, 73, passed away Dec. 13, 2005.

John William Brown was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Morenci, Ariz., the second child of Lowell “Sunny” Brown and Irene Brown.

John graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. He joined the U.S. Army, became a first lieutenant, and spent two years in Augsburg, Germany. Upon returning to the States, he enrolled at the University of Southern California to take some graduate architectural classes. He passed his architectural boards and belonged to the American Institute of Architects. He worked at various architectural firms in California.

John married Jane Coveny in 1977 and legally changed his name to John Caveny-Brown. They were happily married for 28 years.

John had a lifelong dream to live in the Northwest. He retired in 1986 and moved to Whidbey Island which he loved dearly. He volunteered his time and skills to the Langley Architectural Review Board.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Caveny-Brown; his sister, Marilyn Page; his children by his first marriage, Cheryl Tetlow, Damon Brown and Allison Brown and their children.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 7, at the Sanctuary at the Whidbey Institute.
