Madeleine M. Ofenloch

Madeleine M. Ofenloch, of Freeland, died on Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Gig Harbor, to a series of chronic health problems. She was 77.

Mrs. Ofenloch was born on Aug. 9, 1928 to Johann and Edith Segiet in Germany.

She immigrated to Canada in the early 1950s where she met her future husband, Albert. They married on Feb. 4, 1954 in Toronto, Canada.

After their marriage, they lived in New York before moving to Issaquah in 1966, where Madeleine worked for the school district until their move to Freeland on Whidbey Island in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1993. After his death she was very active in Eastern Star – serving in a number of leadership positions.

Survivors include two brothers, Hans Segiet of Lynnwood and Heinrich Segiet of Mansfeld, Germany.

Graveside Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville.
