Raymond D. Rosemeyer

Raymond “Bud” Rosemeyer passed away Saturday,

Aug. 18, 2007 at Birchfield Memory Center where he has resided for the last seven months. He was 90.

Bud was the son of Raymond Leander and Ida Budden Rosemeyer and was born Dec. 23, 1916 in East Dubuque, Ill., then moved to Thorp, Wisc.

Bud had a large family of four brothers and three sisters. Bud moved west when he was 18 to join his Aunt “Bud” and uncle in Seattle. His brother Chuck soon followed and they worked for Boeing, then started a carpentry business on Whidbey Island. His oldest sister Norma later moved to the Seattle area. Bud started his own electrical business which he operated into retirement. In 1955, Bud married Vivian Cuper (deceased) and in 1972 Bud married Ester DePosit (deceased).

Early in his life Bud enjoyed riding his Indian motorcycle for sport. He enjoyed carpentry, fixing things and his electrical business. In his retirement years, he enjoyed touring with his late wife in their travel trailer. Bud’s favorite toys were his riding lawnmowers and his cherry red Pontiac Grand Prix.

Bud is predeceased by his parents, his two wives, his brother Charles, sister Norma and her husband John Gamrath, sister-in-law Mary Ann Rosemeyer (Justin), and step-daughter Betty. He is survived by brother Robert and Myrtle of Round Lake, Ill.; sister, Sr. Rebecca of The Sisters of St. Frances in Dubuque, Iowa; brother Justin of Thorp; brother Eugene and Dorothy of Thorp; sister Marcelle and William Podvin of Waupun, Wisc.; and brother Chuck’s wife, Betty of Whidbey Island. Bud leaves three generations of nieces and nephews. Bud also leaves his step-children from the Cuper family, Nancy, Peter and Tereasa; from the DePosit family, Henry, Carol, William and Richard.

Services and reception will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Langley. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Hubert Catholic Church or The Sisters of St. Frances, 3390 Windsor, Dubuque, IA 52001.
