LETTER TO THE EDITOR: New marina would be on my map

To the editor:

I understand the Port of South Whidbey is considering upgrading Langley with a new marina. Great idea.

Langley is a great shopping/dinner destination for boaters, but this is really inhibited by the overcrowded/poorly laid out existing marina.

I’ve anchored along the beach when the marina is full. This requires an adventuresome dinghy ride when the wind is up, especially the return trip in the dark. I’ve also witnessed less stable boats at anchor give up in the middle of the night and motor off in order to put an end to the rollercoaster ride outside of the breakwater.

I think you’ll find that a new marina will add to the shopping and restaurant visits. I know that it will put Langley back on my destination map.
