William Hall

Published November 23, 2008

William “Bill” Burton Hall, born in Everett on July 26, 1954, passed away peacefully Nov. 23, 2008 surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Bill is preceded in death by his father and survived by his mother, Lorraine Hall of Everett; wife, Phyllis of Langley; sister, Barb (Ron) Arias; and daughter, Sarah (John) Runkle and their daughter, Kaitlyn of California; and daughter, Niki Sheldon of Alabama. In addition, Bill is survived by step-children Bill (Valerie) Warren, Melissa (Jerry) Bunn, Laurie Warren, Deana (Blane) Stewart, Jessica Warren, Tyler Nielsen, Brittany Nielson (and fiance Jerico Winchester), and Heather Nielsen; and step-grandchildren, Ryan, Bianca, Sabrina, Molly, Hailey, Emma, Skylar and soon to arrive Miya Rose. Bill also leaves behind his close friend, Steve Cordell of Bellingham.

Bill attended Everett High School, during which time he honed in on his passion and talent for auto mechanics.

After moving to Whidbey Island in the mid 1980s, Bill became well-known as the owner of B & L Auto on Winona Lane in Langley, which he operated for the past

23 years.

In addition to being a stellar mechanic, Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and camp. In the summertime, Bill was known to venture out before the sun rose on his successful fishing and crabbing expeditions, returning just in time for his catches to be prepared by Phyllis as family dinner feasts.

Bill also loved taking his children and grandchildren on his boat, giving them a tour of the surrounding environs of Puget Sound and sneakily throwing in demonstrations of how fast the boat could go.

Bill will be greatly missed for many reasons, one being his sense of humor which could turn a serious situation into a lighthearted conversation sprinkled with chuckles and guffaws. Additionally, Bill’s presence will be impossible to replace as he represented many things to so many people who will never be the same as a result.

A gathering was held Friday, Nov. 28 at the family home.

Arrangements were under the direction of Visser Funeral Home, Langley.
