Michael (Mike) J. Weeks, 45, passed away Nov. 25, 2008 in Mount Vernon.

Mike lived in Oak Harbor with his eternal companion Shelly and pets Sammy and Jake for the past seven years.

Mike was born Aug. 8, 1963 in Ogden, Utah to Carol (Chuck) Fidroeff of Brookings, Oregon and Joseph Weeks.

Mike completed the culinary arts program from the Job Corps in Sacramento, Calif. in 1987. He then went on to work for the Clearfield Job Corps for several years as well as doing a variety of other jobs. To further his learning, he followed in his father’s footsteps as a baker. When Mike was unable to continue working in the culinary arts field, he proceeded to work as a security officer for a movie and entertainment company.

For the past seven years, Mike’s health declined and even more so in the last nine months.

Mike and Shelly were sealed for time and all eternity in the Bountiful LDS Temple on May 31, 1997.

Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 11 years Shelly Weeks; brother David Weeks, Rick (Joy) Weeks of Freeland, Jeff (Allison) Weeks of Layton, Utah, Joe (Tara) Weeks of Vancouver, Wash.; step-sister Roxanne (Steve) Bragg of Eugene, Ore.; brother-in-law Michael Frances (Nancy) of Anacortes; father- and mother-in-law Larry and Lanetta Newbold, West Valley, Utah; sister-in-law Tammy (Joe) Bulcher also of West Valley and many aunts, uncles cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Joseph N. Weeks, sister Linda Frances, maternal grandparents, brother-in-law Bobby G. Newbold, as well as his faithful companion Rusty.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, with visitation one hour prior, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 201 NE O’Leary St., Oak Harbor.

Arrangements are entrusted to Visser Funeral Home Langley.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Fox of the North Whidbey Community clinic along with the nurses, phlebotomists and office staff for all of the care and love they have shown to Mike and Shelly over the last seven years.
