LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Let’s stay involved, informed

To the editor:

I would like to express my gratitude to all who came to the meeting Wednesday evening (June 17) at the Clinton Community Hall. I need to say a special thanks to David Welton for setting up this meeting to talk about the coming commuter parking issues in Mukilteo.

While the issue certainly wasn’t solved during the meeting, it was a chance for our community to have a voice in the decisions being made that effect us, to hear directly from Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine and members of the city council and for our representatives and the different government agencies to speak to their involvement, plans and concerns with Mukilteo’s intentions to eliminate commuter parking.

One thing we missed with this meeting was getting contact information from all who attended for future communications. To that end, I have set up a Yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whidbey-island-commuter-group, as a communication tool for all of the parties involved with commuting on the ferry and through Mukilteo. My goal is to provide the virtual equivalent of the Wednesday night meeting; a place where we can share our questions, concerns and ideas, and where we can get updates and information on plans from the various agencies and leaders.

Please join the group and stay informed and involved!
