Lyle Forssell of Clinton, Whidbey Island, passed away Feb. 11, 2010 at Stevens Memorial Hospital in Lynnwood.

Lyle was born Jan. 8, 1929. He was an Island resident for almost 50 years. He moved here in 1959, shortly after marrying his pen pal Dotty from New York. They settled in their new home on Deer Lake.

Raising two children and working as a ticket seller for Washington State Ferries, Lyle enjoyed his piece of heaven on earth. He loved fishing on the lake, gardening, raising a few animals, making candles with his wife, enjoying the local restaurant cuisine and watching the eagles feed in the afternoon on the lake.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Dotty Forssell. Lyle is survived by son, Bill Forssell (wife Vicki); daughter, Joan Hill (husband Dave); granddaughter, Amanda Leinen (husband Jeff); granddaughter, Kristina Butler (husband Dan); great-granddaughter, Sophia Leinen; and brother, Russell Forssell (Glendale, Calif.)

Donations can be made to Hearts & Hammers (a wonderful organization that repairs and rehabilitates the homes of those physically or financially unable to do so alone on the Island), PO Box 694, Langley, WA 98260.
