Freeland chocolate maker wins for best zest

Chocolates by George! was awarded a Golden Chile Award at the International Fiery Foods Challenge sponsored by Chile Pepper Magazine. This marks the second time in three years the Freeland company has bested the field in the Zesty Sweets candy category with its “Hot Lips” truffle.

“I consider myself very fortunate that

I have the joy of creating new chocolates each year, and then being acknowledged in these international fiery food events,” chocolatier George Brunjes said. “The opportunity to tantalize people with exotic flavors keeps me going.”

With this victory, Brunjes has won three of the prestigious spicy foods challenges with his creations. Late last year, he was awarded the 2011 Scovie Award and a 2010 Hot Pepper award for his various chocolates.
