Work day needs volunteers | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:
As one of the newest board members for Hearts & Hammers, I am very inspired to be a part of this great association. We recently spent a Sunday afternoon selecting the homes for this year’s work day.
It’s amazing how much thought and time goes into discussing each home that has applied, and if its needs meet the criteria for being selected. Things like health and safety are a big concern.
We went through about 75 homes and selected over 50. These are the most homes that Hearts & Hammers has taken on since it was started. It’s hard not to accept all of them, but there is next year.
Now we need community members to step up and volunteer as either a house captain or for working on these projects. This is my 12th year of volunteering, and I am proud to be a part of this community and to volunteer to help others.
